Commercial Glass & Glazing
The Commercial Glass & Glazing team specializes in the supply and installation of frameless assemblies, entries & shop fronts, bi-folding & multi stacking door systems, and heat strengthened, laminated balustrading. The expertise of this division also extends to complex and custom designed projects including structurally glazed lift shafts, stairwells, glass screens, overhead awnings and pool windows.
Commercial Contracting
Possessing the necessary expertise and fabrication facilities, Quality Glass and Aluminium can estimate, manufacture, glaze and install the standard range of commercial framing systems. With the support of associates in Australia, we are capable of successfully coordinating and completing large and complex commercial projects. Satisfying particular colour, thermal and mechanical performance requirements are all part of the service provided by Quality Glass and Aluminum.
Insulated Glass Units
Custom-made insulated glass units are manufactured in Brisbane by Bradams. Each glazing line incor porates an automatic edge deletion system, spacer bender and secondary sealing unit. By using a combination of various glass and spacer widths, our associate Bradams can manufacture an extensive range of energy efficient units suitable for both residential and commercial applications.
Toughened & Heat Strengthened Glass
The strength and safety features of toughened glass allow architects and designers far greater scope with the use of glass in buildings, creating a total vision concept by eliminating vertical and horizontal frame members.
Residential
We can supply a wide range of quality residential products suitable for use in houses, low-rise apartments, various facilities and complexes. An installation service is also available in addition to patio enclosures and window replacements.
Warehousing, Packing & Dispatch
To ensure the fast, efficient turnaround of extrusion orders, Quality Glass and Aluminum can accommodate warehousing, packing and dispatch options.
Glass Cut To Size
Glass is generally sold as cut-to-size panels cut from larger sheets of glass or as original sized ‘loose’ sheets and bulk sheet quantities.
For sizing descriptions, the industry norm is to always state height first and then width. Glass is sold and calculated as square meters (height x width).
CLEAR FLOAT
Clear float glass is colorless and highly transparent when viewed face on with a slight green tinge when viewed on edge. If offers a very high level of natural daylight or visible light transmittance to pass through it and little resistance to the sun’s direct solar energy. Thicknesses produced range from 2mm to 25mm.
TOUGHENED SAFETY GLASS
Ordinary float glass is heated to approx. 620oC in a toughening furnace and then automatically conveyed to a quench chamber where it is snap cooled to produce glasses which 4 to 5 times stronger than ordinary float glass. If broken, the whole panel of glass shatters into smaller pieces of relatively blunts granules.
LAMINATED GRADE (A) SAFETY GLASS
A safety glass made by laminating two or more sheets of glass with a flexible plastic based interlayer or PVB. The glass and PVB are bonded together by heat and pressure in an autoclave. Different interlayer and glass combinations can provide safety, noise reduction, security and climate control benefits over ordinary single float glass. In the event of breakage, depending on the severity of the impact, glass will not splinter into jagged dangerous pieces and will remain intact in the opening.
TOUGHENED LAMINATED GLASS
A safety glass where the glass panels are toughened before being laminated. This provides added strength and security features over single toughened or laminated glass.
MIRROR
Produced by coating clear or tinted float glass with silver and then layering protective coats of paint to prevent corrosion. Available as a safety glass with a thin vinyl sheeting that is bonded to the glass.
OBSCURE GLASS
This type of glass reduces the level of visibility through the pane. The upside limits how much is visible through the glass to gain privacy into a bathroom, for example. However, the downside is that light, in most cases, is also reduced
GLASS STANDARDS
Australian Standards relevant to glass and glazing that specify the minimum compliance requirements.
AS 1288 GLASS IN BUILDINGS – SELECTION AND INSTALLATION
AS 1288 sets out the data and procedures for determining the glass type and thickness requirements for all buildings. Glass design requirements are given for glazing based on the tensile stresses developed on the surface of the glass. The objective of the Standard is to provide uniform direction for the use and installation of glazing, to allow its use in legislation and to clarify technical definitions. In general, glazing must satisfy the design requirements for ultimate and serviceability limit states and human impact safety in accordance with the procedures given in the Standard.
AS/NZS 4667 QUALITY REQUIREMENTS FOR CUT-TO-SIZE AND PROCESSED GLASS
AS/NZS 4667 specifies the requirements for cut sizes of flat, clear, ordinary annealed glass; tinted heat-absorbing glass; glass used for Grade A safety requirements (i.e. toughened or laminated); patterned; decorative and wired glass; and processed laminated and toughened glass that is used for general and architectural glazing.
